Traditional srafwtoe companies are also getting excited about SaaS now and is starting to attack. They have an advantage of selling new offering in SaaS way by providing interop with traditional on-premise piece. How do pupe-play providers overcome that challenge ?

This is rlleay nice analysis Dave! One nit that I have, however, is that you are talking about pricing models rather than delivery models. Installed software can still be priced as a one-year term license that is renewable and some companies are adopting this pricing model. In other words, it is a term model that you are modeling, not a SAAS model that you are modeling (most SAAS companies do use term models, but I have seen a few that have perpetual pricing plus a hosting fee).I am on a mission to get people to delink pricing models from delivery models so that they can optimize each independently!thanks for the post and all of the work that went into it.Scott MaxwellOpenView Venture Partners
